Contents keep coming in. We have a 10,000 sf warehouse seperate from our main office that is almost completely full from fire losses we are currently working on. I am always amazed at the amount of stuff people have in their homes.

We recieved another large fire loss in the The Cliff’s communities. I have often wondered when owning a second home, what it must feel like when you get word that your dream vacation home has had a serious catastrophy? Where do you turn to, who do you trust, will the insurance company take care of this for me. After doing this for almost 23 years, when we come to the scenario of a second home having damage, most homeowners are happy to see that there is such a service as our to rely on.
I have and always will say, I love helping people get thier lives back together

I just got back from the PLRB East Conference in Atlanta, GA.  First Restoration is a member company of Disaster Kleenup International, DKI, and I helped work their booth at the conference’s tradeshow.  Every booth was different, some much better than others…  What I took away from this conference though was a reminder that everyone there just wanted to connect on some level.  Look people in the eye, make your body language show that you’re interested in what they’re saying, and try to find something that is of a mutual interest to talk about.  Even if you’re not a natural salesperson, you CAN connect with others, you just have to work at it!

As an ambassador for the the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce, I had the pleasure of participating in the Chamber’s SurPRIZE Patrol this morning.  We visited 10 chamber member offices in Etowah,  Mills River, and Laurel Park.  Our SurPRIZE Patrol dropped off balloons, doughnuts, and bags full of promo products from the different reps.  The group was made up of reps from: The Chamber, CITRC (Carolina Information Technology Resource Corporation), Hoyle Office Solutions, Mountain 1st Bank, RBC Centura, First Citizen’s, Park Ridge, Mountain West Construction, and us – First Restoration Services.  It was a great chance for us to say, “Thank you for being part of the Chamber.  We appreciate all you do for the Chamber and the community at large.”  Everyone we visited was very welcoming & happy to see us.  What a great way to spend a Friday!

I  went to a job in Marshall, North Carolina where the gas logs malfunctioned which put smoke throughout the two story home. When the exhaust fans in the bathrooms  were turned on the smoke went through the ducts to the outside of the home. The smoke got on the vinyl siding and soffit. I’m not sure if routine maintenance would have prevented this loss but once again you never know when a disaster is going to occur.

As it seems to be the pattern with emergency losses, they usually come in waves. We have found that some waves are very predictable (cold weather produces frozen pipes, wind causes trees to fall on homes, etc.) while others seem to spike out of nowhere. Today has been one of those days. We have gotten several calls, all of different origins. The earlier part of this week was fairly steady, but today, Thursday, has brought many people in need of our help and professional services. These jobs have also come from many different places in the area. We have received phone calls from Mills River, Arden, Flat Rock, and Asheville. We service all of these areas and more. Tonight, we will have crews out helping to restore homes and businesses and keep them from having further damage. As always, First Restoration Services is a 24/7/365 business, so we will respond any day of the year for emergencies.

For those of you who read Chris’s post last week about all of the different worms available for fishing…  One reason he was worm shopping follows: our hard-working team of technicians and department managers have all voted on what type of employee appreciation event they wanted this summer.  The top two choices were boating (fishing or tubing) and golfing.  The first employee appreciation day took place last Thursday at Lake Glenville.  Chris took Tyler & Ryan with him; they both caught some fish, so the day was deemed a success.  We have another fishing day, a tubing day, and a golfing day scheduled in the coming weeks.  Make sure to tell our guys thank you when you get a chance; they do their very best to exceed your expectations on a daily basis!

We have ordered several promotional products in the past few weeks and just received them all…  First Restoration tries to order from local vendors whenever possible.  For this particular order, we received products from: Dynamic Image (any promotional products plus embroidery), Greenville Office Supply aka GOS (they do printing too, not just office supplies), and 4imprint.com.  Dynamic Image and GOS are both actively involved in the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce with us.  First Restoration Services believes in promotional products and recommends that you contact your local promotional product supplier today.  He or she should be able to help you find the perfect product to keep your name in front of potential or current clients at the right price for your budget.  Happy shopping!

In this business, like many, referrals are a big part of getting new customers. We participate in many networking groups in Asheville, Hendersonville, Brevard, Fletcher and many other areas to encourage these referrals. We get referrals from previous customers, families of previous customers, agents, adjusters and other business connections that we may have. It never ceases to amaze us where we seem to get some of our jobs from. This morning, we were in attendance at a networking event that many of the members had referred us jobs and we had referred them customers in return. It is a great way to support both ours and other local area businesses. We strive to do an A+ Job at every home or business that we go to in hopes to turn those customers into one more addition to our sales and marketing team as cheerleaders!
