Today, two more technicians are being trained on using our Esporta Wash System. We have brought an expert down from Canada to train two more people to effectively process soft goods after a loss. Many times, homeowners worry about who might handle the mess of cleaning all of their contents in their home (including their clothing, bedding, and shoes). First Restoration is proud to not only restore homes after disasters, but all of the contents inside as well! We have a full contents processing center and the Esporta is icing on the cake. It provides a sanitary solution to soft goods cleaning and has been proven to safely remove any harmful bacterias. This allows us to complete an entire project from emergency services, to contents processing, to repairing the home.
The economy is tough right now. Everyone is trying to save a penny or two where they can. The right tire pressure in your vehicle can help you save money. If the correct amount of air is in the tire then it will make the tires perform better. The tires will wear more evenly which will make them last longer. Also when the tires perform more efficiently it will help you get better gas mileage. It may seem to be a small amount of savings but ask yourself this question. How many miles do I put on my vehicle a year?
Sometimes we don’t stop and think about how big of an area First Restoration services, we just get in our trucks or vans and drive to the next job. Today we’ve had jobs called in from several different counties, so I thought it would be helpful to share a list of all the counties we regularly service in addition to the common ones we mention: Buncombe, Henderson & Transylvania. First Restoration’s extra standard Areas of Service are – Madison, Haywood, Jackson, and Polk counties in North Carolina, plus we also take care of disasters in Pickens, Greenville, and Spartanburg counties in South Carolina. Don’t hesitate to call us if you’re in any of these counties; First Restoration will be happy to take care of your disaster!
We bought two 6.5 ton portable air conditioners last month. We’re currently using them in our contents warehouse for supplemental cooling during this unusually hot summer. Since these units are portable they can be used in other applications. We can use these units in any building that has a door at least 30 inches wide.
Before working in this business, I never feared the result of lightning. That has changed over the past year. This summer, we have had a lot of storms producing lighting in Asheville, Hendersonville, Brevard, and surrounding areas and this has caused many problems for local owners. Some home and business owners have smaller repercussions of lightning such as having electronics ruined or possibly trees struck by lightning that then have to be taken down and that is headache enough! But, some unlucky owners have found themselves with a fire resulting from this lighting. Many homeowners have received phone calls from local fire or police departments while they are away from home letting them know that their home has had a fire. Fortunately, they were not home to be at risk for personal harm because of the fire, but unfortunately, it allowed the fire to grow and smolder in the home because it was not quickly remedied.
Because of this newly acquired fear, it has made me more aware of what sort of things I can do to keep a potential fire from worsening. It is best to store flammables (paint, gas tanks, etc.) in an outdoor building if possible, so it does not further fuel a fire. If you are at home while a thunderstorm is close, avoid using the telephone, appliances, and water sources (such as the shower) to protect against personal harm.
First Restoration Services technicians are cleaning another smoke loss due to to a oven fire. The job consist of cleaning the smoke and the fire extinguisher residue left behind after putting the fire out. The job is located in Brevard, NC. Once again cleaning homes due to a fire or smoke loss is very detailed work so we will be on the job for a while to get it cleaned.
As an Ambassador for the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce one responsibility is to attend ribbon cuttings for new members or members celebrating something substantial. Last week I attended Hoyle Office Solutions’ celebration in Arden – ribbon cutting for new office furniture showroom, celebrating 65 years in business, and announcing they are now a woman owned business! And, yesterday I attended a ribbon cutting at Forge Valley Event Center. This is a new special events facility located on 280 located conveniently between Asheville, Hendersonville & Brevard. Check out their website at forgevalleyeventcenter.com. Both chamber members have a lot to offer our community. Remember to support local businesses whenever possible!
One of the most used appliances causes some of the worst water damages for home owners. If you live in Hendersonville like me and you like ice it is only a matter of time.
With all the high heat index stay cool by drinking lots of water and taking plenty of breaks during the day.
You can believe you have made the right decision but without actually asking for another opinion or viewpoint, you are out there by yourself. Here at First Restoration Services we have been under the watchful care of our consultants. Having a consultant is like having a big brother or sister you can talk to and feel comfortable that they have your best interests at heart. Having the correct consulting firm is the key, though. Our consultanting firm has the specific knowledge needed to assist us with those hard decisions because of their years of experience in the restoration field.
