When I walk into the warehouse I see all of the contents that we have cleaned for our customers. I start to wonder if I have these many items in my own home or even more. It makes me  realize how much I have and to be thankful for it because it could be gone in no time due to a fire. So cherish what you have not matter if it is a lot or a little!

Make sure to  walk around your vehicle to inspect the tires on a regular basis. You need to check how the tread is wearing to see if an alignment is due. Also check them for any visible nails, screws or any other items that could penetrate into your tire. Then make sure the tires have the proper amount of air in them.  If you do these things it can help with the life span of your tires and also can keep you from being stranded in the middle of no where with a flat tire.

First Restoration Services actively participates in three different local chamber of commerce organizations in Western North Carolina – Greater Asheville Area, Henderson County, and Brevard/Transylvania County.  Each chamber offers different events that may work well for the others.  For example, the Greater Asheville Area chamber does “Mega Networking” – it’s like speed dating for businesses.  And, Henderson County does “SURPRIZE Patrol” where chamber ambassadors load up in a van and go surprise 10 member businesses with prizes – to say thanks for supporting the chamber through your membership.  I’m sure the chambers all look to each other for great new ideas; we should do the same in our businesses.  If you work with a vendor who seems to have success with bringing doughnuts to their customers offices, try that for your customers.  If  you hear about an interesting office Christmas party idea, try it with your employees. ETC!

In my quest to loose weight I have learned that doing anything over and over becomes so easy and it seems so natural.  Having ballooned to 370 by the age of 54 I felt there was no way I am going to get rid of this weight. It all happened in the Big Man’s clothing store, when I refused to go up another size on my pants. That was my moment of reckoning.

It will be 5 months the end of September and I have dropped an unbelievable 59 lbs. Anyone can change if I can change. I owe a lot of my success to my wife who has adopted the same eating and exercise routine as I.
I said all of that to say I went on an hike yesterday in the mountains of western North Carolina. What a great day for a hike knowing that 5 months ago I would have been posted up in front of the TV watching football all day.

A common mis-understanding in Insurance work is who do you work for? For the H/O that you are performing the mitigation dry out or repair work for or the insurance company who is ultimately the one paying you.  We at First Restoration work FOR the h/o and WITH the Insurance company.  Through my years of experience from first day on the job green horn to emergency services manager corners are not cut, communication doesn’t break down as easy, and jobs are done the more efficient and quality is unmatched when you me or any body works for the h/o.  Working WITH Insurance company refers to being ethical, professional, and knowledgeable about the specific job  and communicating with the right parties to submit bills and justify them.  To many times have I seen Insurance companies call there Prefer d Vender to take care of the Emergency water damage at your house were you pay to live.  Yes if that company has my interests at heart no problem but 9 out of 10 times quality and standard of care is dropped.  So If you Live in HENDERSONVILLE, BREVARD, OR ASHEIVLLE AND YOU HAVE A INSURANCE CLAIM USE WHO YOU WANT AND NOT WHO THEY WANT!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently went back to Ohio. I make 1-2 trips up there a year. This trip was an anticipated one as we went to the local Fair that was so well remembered from my youth. I went with the thoughts of doing the things that I did when I was a kid….Freak Shows, Rides, Hanging out with Friends and eating all the junk you can handle. I did most of that except for Freak Shows as there are no bearded ladies, alligator man, or fat lady traveling with the carnivals. The rides…well the rides seemed a little shaky for my 54 year old 6’4 frame. But something had not changed was the overall excitement everyone seemed to have from the animal barns to the midway. The fair food was as usual but there was one item that I had not seen before..chocolate covered bacon….yes I had some…it was ok but glad I only had a couple of pieces.
I did run into a few folks I knew from high school which was pretty cool. Again I had to keep in mind that high school was 36 years ago.
All in all we had a great time and for the most part the fair is still the same and I am glad.

The morning temperatures are cool and crisp. That means that the furnaces and gas logs will be starting up in the near future to knock off the chill. Just another reminder to get the maintenance done on them so they will work properly for this upcoming season. If for some reason your heat source malfunctions and soot’s up the home please give us a call to help you get it cleaned up.
