This time of year at First Restoration, we are preparing for the winter which is our busiest season. The season usually begins with fire and smoke losses which are brought on by chimneys being used for the first time of the year that malfunction or puff backs from furnaces being cranked on for the winter. We are currently processing a substantial amount of contents from these sort of losses.
Next, our eyes turn to the cold temperatures of the winter as we anticipate that frozen pipes will eventually come causing burst pipes and sprinkler system malfunctions. When this happens, we can often predict it. These calls often come in a flurry within a few days of each other. In these situations, we plan to have as many people on call as possible and often times, all of our technicians are working long days and hours to help people with damage in their homes and to keep the businesses, churches, and offices of Asheville, Hendersonville, Brevard, and other surrounding areas functioning during this busy time of year.
Although we are busy with a number of current jobs, you will find our managers and office staff planning and preparing for the winter so that we can be ready to efficiently and effectively help with disasters in Western North Carolina.

It seems like I just put all the Christmas stuff away and now I am looking at a time when I can reinstall it in the same manner as the year before. It takes an extreme amount of energy every year to deal with all the events of the season. From figuring out all the entertaining schedules to which football game to watch to what to buy “THAT” person that has everything. Sometimes it just plain overwhelming.
So my advice to everyone this season is….. slow down…enjoy what the season has to bring. Because time slips away oh so fast.

Recently, while in the doctor’s office, I was reading a Time Magazine article with the subject of “Third Hand Smoke.” The article was on the findings of a Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School on the affects third hand cigarette smoke. The simplest definition of smoke is the byproduct of incomplete combustion. So, first hand is direct inhalation from the cigarette, second hand is inhalation of cigarette smoke of another smoker, and third hand smoke is the residue and chemicals left behind from smoking in hair, clothing, carpet, or other porous surfaces. The article warned that stepping outside for a moment alone with a cigarette wasn’t enough when children, pregnant women, or people with weak immune systems occupy a building. I remember when I was in elementary school, this one particular classmate would come in reeking of cigarette smoke. Obviously, he wasn’t smoking, but someone else was. It is sad that this goes on. I haven’t experienced it that much recently because the knowledge and education is more available and as many people are not smoking. I have heard of newborn home cleanings to remove hazardous chemicals and residues from homes before bringing babies home and now it is being proven that this is a legitimate need.
First Restoration Services of Asheville specializes in smoke odor removal and cleaning of all types in Asheville, Hendersonville, Brevard, and surrounding areas.

Good Morning!
We are all in sales and marketing aren’t we? It’s so refreshing to work with a team that fosters that development.
We were privileged to attend DKI Marketing Summit in Charlotte NC last week. If you have never been “Marvinized” by speaker and author Marvin Montgomery you are missing out! He spoke of attitude and how imortant it is to listen to the needs of our customers. Basic stuff-huh? It is surprising how we forget to ask and listen isn’t it?
Good Selling to all and make it a great day!

Do you have an odor in your home that you can’t get rid of? Please give us a call so we can introduce you to the OdorOX machine. The OdorOx machine produces hydroxyls that seek and destroy odor molecules. You are probably wondering what hydroxyls are. Hydroxyls are safe naturally occurring molecules that are created in the atmosphere when the sun’s ultraviolet rays react with water vapor. The machine produces these hydroxyls and sends them out to attach to the odor molecules to destroy them. OdorOx machine is safe for people, pets, plants and sensitive materials.
