Training is what sets us apart from our competition. We have an on going training program. Everyday there is a 15 minute training blip on any of a number of items. This day we were going over the correct use of a 75kw generator. The uses, the hookups, the dangers etc.

Recently, while in the doctor’s office, I was reading a Time Magazine article with the subject of “Third Hand Smoke.”  The article was on the findings of a Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School on the affects third hand cigarette smoke. The simplest definition of smoke is the byproduct of incomplete combustion.  So, first hand is direct inhalation from the cigarette, second hand is inhalation of cigarette smoke of another smoker, and third hand smoke is the residue and chemicals left behind from smoking in hair, clothing, carpet, or other porous surfaces.  The article warned that stepping outside for a moment alone with a cigarette wasn’t enough when children, pregnant women, or people with weak immune systems occupy a building.  I remember when I was in elementary school, this one particular classmate would come in reeking of cigarette smoke.  Obviously, he wasn’t smoking, but someone else was.  It is sad that this goes on.  I haven’t experienced it that much recently because the knowledge and education is more available and as many people are not smoking.  I have heard of newborn home cleanings to remove hazardous chemicals and residues from homes before bringing babies home and now it is being proven that this is a legitimate need.

First Restoration Services of Asheville specializes in smoke odor removal and cleaning of all types in Asheville, Hendersonville, Brevard, and surrounding areas.

Do you have an odor in your home that you can’t get rid of? Please give us a call so we can introduce you to the OdorOX machine. The OdorOx machine produces hydroxyls that seek and destroy odor molecules. You are probably wondering what hydroxyls are. Hydroxyls are safe naturally occurring molecules that are created in the atmosphere when the sun’s ultraviolet rays react with water vapor. The machine produces these hydroxyls and sends them out to attach to the odor molecules to destroy them.  OdorOx machine is safe for people, pets, plants and sensitive materials.

Odorox®: Solves extreme odor and bacteria problems the natural way- no chemicals or sprays.
Effective. Fast. Environmentally safe. Odorox Environmental offers natural hydroxyl technology that eliminates odor-causing bacteria, unsafe viruses and lingering smells, all helping create a healthier work and living environment.

Restoration professionals, home-owners, and anyone who has a tough odor or environmental issue can benefit from the natural hydroxyl cleansing technology that eliminates many issues.

The Odorox® technology replicates nature’s process indoors. Contaminated air is drawn though the machine’s chamber where the humidity from the air is combined with multiple frequencies of UV light to create hydroxyls and sanitize the air. The purified air is recycled back into the environment along with active hydroxyl molecules to further deodorize and decontaminate air, surfaces and contents.

Hydroxyls are safe, naturally occurring compounds, and are the single most important cleansing agent for our outdoor environment. Ronald Prinn, of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology states “This one (Hydroxyl) molecule is very, very important. It is the critical cleaning chemical for the atmosphere.”

The EPA reports that indoor air quality can be up to 100 times more polluted than outside air resulting in unhealthy living conditions and many other associated health risks. The American Lung Association reports that poor indoor air quality is among the top five environmental risks to public health.

Odorox Environmental LLC is the official distributor of the Odorox® Hydroxyl Generators for the Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, North Carolina and South Carolina. This non-chemical technology provides an environmentally safe solution for removing the most difficult odors, and destroying harmful bacteria and volatile organic compounds (VOC’s).

I remember my first cell phone…it resembled a military walkie talkie….I don’t need to tell you of the sophisticated phones of today. What I would like to talk about are the application for phones today. One such application will revolutionize the restoration industry when it comes to water damage reporting. There is a new program that allows you to do all your room calculations, RH and Temp reading of dehumidifiers and tell you how many air movers to use. This program tracks all of the above with special instructions as when to take equipment out as the room is drying. Very helpful for progressive companies that want the best and up to date technology for their clients. This is a web based program that is real time downloads. Multi-user friendly with very good support, the program runs on the Window Mobile platform. If tracking your water damage mitigation is important to your organization this program is a must.

We bought two 6.5 ton portable air conditioners last month.  We’re currently using them in our contents warehouse for supplemental cooling during this unusually hot summer.  Since these units are portable they can be used in other applications.  We can use these units in any building that has a door at least 30 inches wide.

We recently acquired another trailer mounted desiccant dehumidifier to add to our current inventory.  We use these large units when we dry commercial buildings, gym floors, hotels, churches, large homes, schools, warehouses, crawlspaces, and many other specialty applications.
